Path description:
From the starting point, continue up the asphalt road, and when the road turns left, leave it and continue straight on cart track in the direction of Pikovy. Continue along cart track, which climbs along the route of a former ski slope, and nowadays the Mežica disc golf course can be seen along the way. At first, looking back, you can still see Mežica and the surrounding hills, but then the trail, which has almost no markings, becomes a valley between a 729-metre-high hill on the left (an unnamed peak on the maps), and Štalekarjev vrh on the right. As the valley turns westwards, a marked cart track branches off the ski slope to the left, which is followed. Cart track quickly turns a little further to the left and then climbs cross-cutting to the ridge, where it continues right in the direction Koča na Pikovem. The path follows the ridge for a while, then gradually turns slightly left onto the slopes, over which it climbs mostly transversely. Higher up, on the lower left-hand side, you pass the homestead Jesenik, where the path leads you past the ruins of an old house. A little further on you reach a dirt road, which you follow a few steps to the left (straight ahead, the usual marked path towards Koča na Pikovem), then go slightly right, onto an initially less well-trodden path, along which you see older markings. The path quickly turns into the woods, then climbs cross-climbing to the left. A little further on, a small steep valley is reached, which is ascended steeply, and during the ascent, numerous tracks of motocross bikes can be seen. Higher up, the path flattens out and we join the normal route.
Continue again in the direction Koča na Pikovem and climb through the forest to a wooden cross with a rather old bench beside it.
Continue straight on (left Pikov vrh) and gradually start descending. At the part where you leave the forest, another path branches off to the left at Pikov vrh, and we continue straight on to the nearby farm Pik, after which the surrounding area takes its name. After a few minutes of walking along the road, we first get some views in the direction of Pec, and then through the woods we reach the Church of St Helena, behind which is the Pikov Cottage.
Description and pictures refer to the situation in 2018 (May).
