Moravske Toplice - Sveti Benedikt (Kančevci)

Access to the starting point:
a) Leave the Pomurje motorway at exit Gančani, then follow the signs for Bogojina and Moravske Toplice. At Bogojina, turn left and drive to Moravske Toplice, where you can park in one of several car parks.
b) Take Murska Sobota and then follow the signs for Moravske Toplice. When you arrive at Moravske Toplice, park in one of the car parks in the centre of the village.

Path description:
From the parking lot, walk to the Evangelical Church in Moravske Toplice, then continue along the pavement towards Dobrovnik, and walk along the main road only to the first crossroads, where you will turn left after the Lanen flower shop, where you will also be directed by signs. Continue straight ahead to the end of the street, then go left towards the Vivat spa (the marked trail to Bogojina continues on the right). At the spa, the road turns slightly to the right, and at the end of the settlement, continue straight ahead. Continue along the macadam road, which leads between the fields, and when you reach a slightly wider macadam road, turn right (Martjanci and Murska Sobota on the left).
The road continues to climb for some time, barely noticeably, but when you reach the forest, it becomes steeper. The slightly steeper part is short, then there is a longer, steeper climb, mostly through the forest. Higher up, the forest ends and the road becomes asphalted, leading to the village of Ivanovci, where we arrive at a partially marked crossroads.
The Pomurska mountain trail continues up to the right, leading further towards the Rotunda of St Nicholas in Sel, where a mountain sign also points the way, and we continue straight on, where there are no signs, but we still follow the markings. There are a few minutes of easy climbing, and then we go left out of the crossroads. Continue past a few more houses until you reach the Zeleni gaj Inn, where you reach a wider tarmac road and turn left.
Walk along the main road for a short distance, as at the first crossroads, where there is a nice resting place with a table and benches, go right. After the crossroads, we arrive back in the Ivanovci part of the settlement, and we continue without any major changes in altitude, enjoying the beautiful views of Goričko. We then arrive at Fokovci, where we continue straight ahead at the crossroads, and after Fokovci the road turns into the forest and leads us to a marked crossroads from which we continue straight ahead on a side road, along which there are signs for the Kančevci Spirituality House (the main road turns right and leads on towards the Kančevci settlement).
Only a few 10 m further from the crossroads, the marked path from Selo joins us from the right, and we continue straight on, where the path leads us out of the forest to a scenic part, from where we have a view towards the valley and, with good visibility, the eastern Karavanke Mountains. After a few minutes of gentle climbing, we pass the cross and arrive at the Kančevci Spirituality House, where there is a large parking lot, and a few 10 steps further on we reach the Church of St Benedict.
