Mrzle doline - Sveti Peter

Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Novo Mesto, take the exit Ivančna Gorica and continue in the direction of Žužemberk and Črnomelj. Follow the road to Soteska, where you turn right over the bridge over the Krka River. Just after the bridge, turn right into the yard of a nearby business to find the start of a forest road. Follow the road, which begins to climb steeply through the forest, to a slightly larger crossroads, at which you will see a sign for Mrzle doline (Cold Valley). Park here in a suitable place by the crossroads.
b) From the Border crossing Obrežje - Ljubljana motorway, take the exit Novo Mesto - East, and we continue driving to the above-mentioned place. From Novo Mesto, continue driving in the direction of Straža and then Soteska. In Soteska, turn left towards Črnomelj and Podhoste. Just after the bridge over the Krka River, turn right into the yard of a nearby company, where you will find the start of a forest road. Follow the road, which begins to climb steeply through the forest, to a slightly larger crossroads, at which you will see a sign for Mrzle doline. Park here in a suitable place by the crossroads.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the right-hand road (the left-hand road leads to Podhosta), which climbs gently through the forest. Higher up, you will come to an unmarked crossroads, where you take a sharp left and continue along the unmarked road for a while. Continue ascending along a narrower dirt road, which takes about 10 minutes of further walking to reach the next junction. Continue on the left road (return to the "main" road on the right), where you will quickly reach the marked path leading from Podhosta to St Peter's.
Here, continue right along the marked footpath, which begins to climb moderately through the forest. After a few minutes, leave the wide path and continue ascending slightly to the right, along a path that is still marked, but occasionally more overgrown. At a higher level, we reach cart track, which after a few steps leads us to a wider forest road. Follow the road uphill, but walk along it for only a short distance, as signs then direct you to the right onto a footpath. Continue the short climb through the forest, then the path will lay down and lead to the next forest road, which we just cross. Continue in the direction of St Peter's and follow the path, first downhill, then up a steeper and steeper path, arriving at the top of St Peter's in about 15 minutes of further walking.
