Access to the starting point:
Leave the motorway between Trieste and Venice at Portogruaro and follow the motorway towards Pordenone, Conegliano and Belluno, where you leave the motorway and continue through Belluno, Ponte nelle Alpi and Agordo to Falcade, where you turn left off the road to Passo san Pellegrino towards the Passo Valles pass. At the pass, park at the Cappana Valles family-run guest house/hotel/resort.
The other possible access from Slovenia is via Karawanks - Spittal - Lienz - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Falzarego Pass - Alleghe - Falcade - Passo Valles.
Path description:
From the pass, follow the marked trail 749, which comfortably crosses the slopes of the Cima Valles, to the Forcella Venegia (2212 m). Here, turn left on trail 751, which follows the grassy area to the right of the ridge, past a small lake and through rock-lined pastures towards the north-west face of the much higher Monte Mulaz. The route crosses the entire southern slope of Cima Venegiotta. A wide valley is reached, ending at the Venegiota Pass. Route 751 continues towards the Volpi hut, and we take a sharp left at the marker onto the east ridge to reach the viewpoint.
