Planina Smrečica (Poglajnov rovt) - Zgornji Goreljek (Pokljuka)

Access to the starting point:
From Bled or Jesenice, drive to Zatrnik, then continue to Pokljuka. After Zatrnik, take the first carriageway to the left (i. e. at the road sign between 5. 5 km and 6. 0 km), then drive for another 100 m to the first major right turn. After the bend, a road branches off to the left, going down to mountain pasture Smrečica, and we park just a little further on in a convenient roadside parking space.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the macadam road, which climbs gently, but after a long left turn, where you also leave the route of the former Zatrnik ski slope, the road stops climbing and occasionally drops a little further. Walking along the road, we then cross the route of the former lift Berjanca and a little further on the Berjanca ski slope, and a little further on we get some views towards the Karavanke Mountains. After the viewpoint, we reach the marked trail Bled (Zaka) - Pokljuka, and we continue to the right along cart track to the nearby hunting lodge.

Go around the hunting lodge on the left and continue walking on the worse road. When the road turns slightly to the right, continue straight ahead on the marked cart track, then follow the signs and climb up to the former ski slope Zatrnik, where you start descending (if you continue to the right, you can climb to the top of the ski slope Berjanca in a minute or two, where you will have a beautiful view that reaches all the way to Triglav). There is a short descent, then cross the forest road and continue along the marked cart track. Cart track soon splits, and we take the upper right path, which continues to climb through the spruce forest. A few minutes higher up, take the marked path cart track to the left, which soon starts to descend to the north-eastern part of Rečiška mountain pasture. Then walk along Rečiška planina, passing a few huts.
On the other side of mountain pasture the path widens into a road, and from a nearby crossroads continue along the right-hand road, soon turning left onto a waymarked path. The path is quite steep at first, then begins to descend moderately and reaches another road at a lower level. The marked path continues to the right, going in a semicircle around Grajska planina, in the middle of which, after heavi rains, there is a beautiful lake. On the other side of mountain pasture the road turns into a forest, and we quickly leave it and continue left along a marked mountain path which leads us to the edge of the Moočila moor, along which we continue for some time. As the marked path is already part of the moor in several parts, a parallel path has been made slightly to the right. When we leave the area of the Močila peat bog, we reach the asphalt road Bohinj - Pokljuka, and we follow it to the left for a short time, then the markings and signs for the Sport Hotel direct us to the right to continue on the mountain trail. A longer walk through the forest follows, where we follow the signs at the crossroads, and after a while we reach the first huts on Zgornji Goreljko. When you reach an asphalt road a little further ahead, follow it to the right, then follow the signs for the Sport Hotel, which you will reach past numerous cottages, the Chapel of St. Anthony the Hermit, the NOB memorial and the Jelka Hotel.
