Access to the starting point:
The famous Poetto Beach lies 5 kilometres east of the centre of Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, and is the easiest to reach by public transport.
Path description:
From Poetto Beach, walk along Viale del Poetto, turn left onto Via Vergine di Lluc, past Piazza San Bartolomeo, right onto Viale San Bartolomeo and left onto Viale Sant'Elia (largely skirting the hills to the south from the north). Soon we are close to the sea again, which we approach as closely as possible (any climb is still futile), until the only road ahead is a dirt road which starts to climb. Leave the road at the information boards, from which a footpath turns up the slope towards the lighthouse and the fortress. Follow the footpath to the ridge between the lighthouse and the fortress. On the ridge, with a magnificent view, turn towards the fortress, which is reached after a 10-minute walk.
