Pregrada - Bukovski vrh (Kuna gora)

Access to the starting point:
a) Enter Croatia via the Rogatec/Hum border crossing at Sutli. From the border, turn right and after a 15-minute drive you will arrive in the village of Pregrada. Here we will turn right into the first street (Prilaz Matice Hrvatske street), then right again and park in the large parking lot next to the church.
b) If you enter Croatia via the Gruškovje/Macelj crossing, take the Macelj-Zagreb motorway to the Đurmanec exit, from there take the Hum na Sutli exit and then follow the above description.

Path description:
From the church parking lot, go slightly uphill to the north. The mountain signposts are helpful. After a minute, leave the asphalt and take the narrower path between the fences, which leads quickly into the forest.
In the forest, you will start to climb quite steeply. The ground will be rocky at times. The path leads to a crossroads where you go right. There is a slightly more difficult climb over rocks, which leads to an exposed part. After the exposed part is the next crossroads, where a very steep unofficial shortcut goes straight ahead, and we go right and after a few minutes of climbing we come to a bend where the path will turn sharp left to the west. The steepness will gradually ease and at the next bend we merge with the steep shortcut and after a minute we emerge from the forest in front of the mountain hut. Typical for this part of the trail are the crosses along the way.
The mountain hut is open at weekends but is not manned. From the hut you have an outstanding view of the village of Pregrada and further south.
From the hut, continue north along the asphalt road, which begins to descend after a while. When it reaches the precipice, leave it and go right on the forest road cart track (continue on the asphalt Vina gora and Veliki Tabor).
Cart track starts to climb quickly and turns north at the bend. The climb is steep, and in the last part we will have a problem with the difficult rocky and muddy surface, which is dangerous for slipping. Cart track is laid, but it is usually quite muddy. After a short time, cart track leads us to a hunting observation post, where we leave it and go left to the west.
The path through the forest leads us to the next crossroads, where the path to the right goes to the ruins of Kostel Castle, and we will go on. We will come to a strip of pine forest, and beyond it to a small mushroom society. Here we can rest and enjoy the rain. There is another crossroads next to the hut, where the trail goes straight on to Vina gora and Veliki Tabor, and we go right and after a minute we are at Bukovski vrh, the highest peak of Kuna gora. The summit is in the forest and has no view, only a stamp and a registration book.
