Access to the starting point:
Exit the Friuli highway at Carnia and continue towards Tolmeč and the Monte Croce Carnico Pass. At Cedarrchis, go straight through Paluzzo and Treppo Carnico. Above Ligosullo, the road turns towards Paular and at the bend just below the Lius Pass, a tarmac road marked Foresta Tersadia branches off to the right. You can park here (1032m) or continue a short distance along the dirt road to the 409 signpost or a few metres further on to the ramp (1080m).
Path description:
A narrow asphalted road leads off to the right towards some farmhouses. We take the forest path, which climbs moderately into a beautiful beech forest, and within a few minutes we reach the start of the 409 trail (signpost). The path climbs moderately sloping through a beautiful beech forest, then begins to wind its way up to a height of about 1400 m, where a long traverse begins, leading along the edge of the forest to the Orteglas saddle (1400 m). Here, by a wooden bench on the left, you will find the signs for the Valuto bivouac and the Tersadia mountain, and to the right, the 409a marked trail descends towards Treppo Carnico. The route of the trail from this crossroads is to the east. It starts to climb more steeply in the forest. The trail follows the route of the ridge linking Cimon with the Tersadia massif. Along the way, the Rutandi and Orteglas streams are encountered, interspersed with rivulets. Along the ridge, the trail passes just below the clearing where the Valore emergency bivouac is located (1588 m, old barn with a bivouac with a bench, a table, space for two armaflexes and an open fireplace).
The trail gradually leaves the forest and continues its easy ascent on the north-west side of the mountain. The trail follows a broken mulatto track in places. At the Tersadia saddle, a wide view opens up to the south To our right (west) is the ridge, with the peaks of Cima Valmedan, Monte Cucco and Monte di Rivo. From the south side comes a clearly visible mulatiera over the upper mountain pasture of Valmedan.
The fork in the path to the summit is a few metres before the viewpoint, less well marked but logical. It passes through an area of dwarf pines and scrub. Following the open grassy area, with a view of the mighty Sernio, we arrive at the summit plateau, where there are the remains of a building. Just below the summit (1959 m) there is a large cross, a marble statue of the Virgin Mary and a registration book, and at the top there are two plaques explaining the view.
