Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Maribor - Graz / Graz - Lienzen (A9) take the exit Gratkorn-Süd, the first exit after the Plabutschtunnel. Turn left in the route Graz-Andritz.
At the next traffic lights turn left towards Weiz, St. Radegund. Follow the road to the end (approx. 3 km), where at the junction turn left again in the route St. Radegund.
After 4 km, look out for a left fork in the route Rinegg. Go through Rinegg to the Rehabilitation Centre, take the 3rd exit at the roundabout and continue uphill.
After 200 m, park on the right in a small parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue up the road slightly, past the turnoff for the lower gondola station, then past the place where the mountain path joins from the right.
After about 900 m, you reach a turnoff where direction signs point you left towards the top of Schöckel. After 70 m, leave the wider dirt track and turn left into the forest.
Follow the path through the forest. At the hunting lodge, follow the path through the forest on the left. The right-hand path would lead you to the "Schöcklkreuz" parking lot. The path through the forest becomes steeper.
The path is very well marked throughout. In some places you cross the road or stick to it for only a few tens of metres. When you come out of the woods, you have a view of the mountain pasture below Schöckl.
Keep to the beaten track. After a few minutes we see a hut and a transmitter. Continue left along the grassy path to the road. Follow the path in the direction of the small transmitter.
After a few minutes, you reach a cross with a wonderful view on all sides.
