Ročinj - Čičer (circular path)

Access to the starting point:
From Nova Gorica drive to Tolmin or vice versa, follow the road to Ročinj, where you can park in a suitable place.

Path description:
The trail starts and ends at St Andrew's Church in the centre of the village, where a signpost points in two directions, west and east. The western route is recommended for the ascent as it is steeper. The trail continues past the spring of Zdenc, then ascends the old trail to Kambreško to Preval (339 m. a. s. l. ). If you have enough time, you can visit the church of St. Paul from where you have a nice view of the villages of the Avška kota, then descend to Preval, where you cross the road Ročinj - Kambreško and soon reach the old trail that led to Srednje (Srednje). Follow it up to the point where you leave it and climb right up to the top of Čičer. Here we are greeted by a registration book and a stamp, and just below the top there is a bench with a view of the Soča River, Kanal and further down the valley, in clear weather, to the sea.
We continue back along the ridge, then turn right down towards Ročinj. Just above the village you reach the lookout point at Ročinj (the first written mention of the place dates back to 1083), from here you are only five minutes from the starting point.
The circular route to Čičer has an additional horticultural dimension, with 34 signs along the way with the names of trees in Slovenian and Latin.
