Rude - Oštrc (Hoffmannova pot)

Access to the starting point:
a) Arrive in Croatia via Border crossing Obrežje, then drive to Samobor, from where you follow the signs for the town centre. From the town centre, continue in the route "Jasterbarsko-Ruda". From Samobor to the village of Rude is about a 5-minute drive. Park in Rude in the parking lot next to the handball hall.
b) From Styria, first drive to Ptuj, then continue to Border crossing Gruškovje and then on the motorway to Zagreb. At the motorway junction west of Zagreb, continue in the direction of Ljubljana, and follow the motorway to the exit for Samobor, from where you follow the signs for the city centre. From the city centre, continue in the direction "Strojarsko-Ruda". From Samobor to the village of Rude is about a 5-minute drive. Park in Rude in the parking lot next to the handball hall.

Path description:
From the parking lot, turn north to the trailhead. The trail immediately splits into two parts, and we continue to the right in the direction of Veliki dol (direct path to Oštrc on the left). The trail initially passes through the village of Rude, and then begins to climb towards the "last" houses in the village (during the climb through the village, the trail leads us past a spring). A little further on, the asphalt road turns sharp right, and we continue straight on the dirt road, which leads us past some farms. After the last houses, the road goes into the forest and turns into cart track. A little further on, cart track turns to the right, and we continue straight on along a marked path which descends to a nearby crossroads.
Here, a path branches off to the right, leading to the top of Črnec, and we continue left westwards along a slightly steeper path. Further on, the path leads to the meadow Veliki dol, above which we return to the forest. We walk through the forest for only a minute or so, and then we arrive at the Veliki dol mountain lodge, where we can have a snack.
From the house, continue along the well-maintained path, which continues westwards and leads to the wider cart track. We continue in the direction of "Šoićeva kuća" (former mountain lodge, now a well-known inn) and soon arrive at a crossroads where cart track starts to descend and we continue slightly to the left along an increasingly steep path. The path continues to climb through the forest, and higher up on a partly grassy slope. When we reach an undistinguished ridge a little further on, we join the "direct" route from the village of Rude.
From here it is a good minute's walk to the Željezničar Home.
In front of the lodge, a steep path from Braslovje joins us from the left.
From the house, go slightly west and then up to the nearby summit. The last part of the path is steeper, but not particularly difficult.
From the summit you can continue southwards, where you will quickly reach a cross and a lookout point.
