Rudnik pri Radomljah - Vrtače (via Lancar)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the roundabout on the Kamnik ring road, take the exit towards Volčji Potok, then turn left before the Arboretum Volčji Potok onto the road towards Rudnik at Radomlje. Continue past the Arboretum golf course, and when you reach the priority road in Rudnik pri Radomlje, turn left at the junction and park at the NOB memorial, which has space for up to 2 cars.

b) Take Radomlje, where from the roundabout in the middle of the settlement take the exit towards Rova. Just 100 m further from the church in Radomlje, turn left onto Opekarniška street. Continue straight ahead and follow the signs for Rudnik. Continue past the Repanšek Gallery and the Glamping OB ROBU GOZDA, then soon you will see the NOB monument on the right, where you park.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the road as it continues northwards and splits before a small hamlet. Continue along the middle road, which leads past a few houses and then into the forest, through which it climbs moderately for the most part. Higher up, the path leads out of the forest, where it passes through the yards of a few houses, and splits behind the houses.
Continue straight ahead and cross a larger hayfield on the grassy cart track. Higher up, cart track ends and we continue slightly left to a nearby hunting observation post, where we enter the woods and after a few steps reach another, wider cart track. Follow cart track to the right, and at a less visible fork, take the left-hand cart track, avoiding the Grdav hill, which you can see in front of you, on the left-hand side. On the northern side of the hill you reach an indistinct ridge, which continues cart track. Higher up, the ridge becomes a slope and we follow cart track straight ahead or northwards. A few minutes higher we reach the asphalt road Kamnik - Zgornje Palovče, and we follow it to the left, and walk along it to where a forest road branches off the asphalt road to the right. Continue on the forest road, walking only a few steps, as it leads off to the right onto cart track, and from cart track a little further right onto a footpath which climbs steeply. Cross the newer cart track higher across to the right, then climb steeply for a short distance. The path soon becomes gentle and leads to the unmarked Lancar, from which there is a moderate descent to a saddle between the peaks of Lancar and Vrtače.
There are a couple of switchbacks, where we continue eastwards and climb to the west headland, from which there is a bit of a descent. At a small pass, cart track is reached, which is crossed, and then you leave the forest and climb through a hay meadow to a hunting observation post. At the observation post, go slightly left and continue for some 10 paces, taking in the view of the highest peaks of Kamnik Savinja Alps, after which the path returns to the forest, through which it climbs to a nondescript and vegetated summit.
