Ruše - Ruška koča na Arehu

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive to Maribor, then follow the signs for Ruše. When you arrive in Ruše, park in one of the car parks in the village, preferably near the Ruše post office.
b) From the road Dravograd - Maribor, after Selnica ob Dravi, turn right towards Ruše. Then drive over the bridge over the Drava river (the bridge is expected to be closed until 31. 10. 2022), and then arrive in Ruše, where you can park in one of the car parks in the settlement, preferably near the Ruše post office.

Path description:
From where we parked, we first walk to Trg vstaje, where we see red mountain direction signs, and we turn onto the road in the direction of Ruška hut, Glažuta and Martnice. For a short time we walk along the asphalt road towards Lobnica, and then the signs direct us to the left, where we first climb up between the houses, and then the path goes into the forest. After a few minutes of climbing, you will reach a lookout point, which offers a beautiful view of Ruše, the surrounding area and Kozjak, and is flanked by three crosses. The path continues into the forest and climbs up to an asphalt road, which you follow to the left. Walk along the asphalt road, passing individual houses, and higher up you will come to a small saddle with a cross by it.
Continue slightly right along the marked road (sharp left Lorbekov vrh and Dobnik homestead), from which after a few steps you turn right again onto a minor road, which you follow for a short time, then signs lead you left into the woods, through which you climb steeply, and then quickly return to the road, which you follow to the left. The road quickly turns to the right and leads to a nearby house, where you climb across a courtyard.
Above the house, continue along the edge of the wood for a while, then by the chapel you reach another road, and we continue right to a nearby tarmac road, where we go left. After a few 10 steps we reach Martnica, and we have a beautiful view towards the valley and Kozjak. A little further on, go right off the road and climb under the power lines, cross the road a little higher, and a few steps further on, you reach another road. Continue along the road, which forks, and we continue slightly right towards Areh and the hunting lodge (farm Čander to the slight left). There are a few more forks in the trail, where we follow the signs for Areh (the trail to Glažuta branches off to the left, and the trail to the hunting lodge to the right, slightly further on). Leave the road in front of the Hleb farm and turn right onto the marked footpath, which continues through the forest and bypasses the farm on the right. A few minutes higher, you reach the NOB memorial, and after the memorial, cross a wider macadam road. Just a little further on, cross the road once more and then follow the signs for a longer walk through the forest. Cross the ski slope higher up and then climb through the forest to the Areh Hotel, after which you will arrive at a marked crossroads.
Continue straight ahead over the asphalt road in the direction of Ruška hut (right Žigartov vrh, waterfall Šumik. . . , left Mariborska koča), which you will reach in two minutes of further walking.
