Access to the starting point:
From Nova Gorica, we drive into Itali and continue on the motorway to Venice/Venezia. At Portogruaro, leave the motorway towards Venice and turn right on the motorway towards Pordenone. At the next motorway junction near Conegliano, turn right towards Belluno. Follow the motorway to the exit for Belluno, and after Belluno we follow the road towards Feltre and then towards Transacqua and the Passo Rolle pass. The ascending road then takes us through San Martino. From the signpost marking the end of San Martino, continue for about 1km and you will see a small parking lot on the left hand side of the road.
Path description:
At the starting point, you will see a signpost on the right hand side of the road, directing you to the right on the footpath towards mountain pasture Malga Pala. The trail leads quickly into the forest through which it then climbs gently for some time. Later the path turns right and after a short climb leads to a marked crossroads.
To the left, the path leads to the Passo Rolle pass, and we continue to the right towards mountain pasture Malga Pala. The path then crosses the slopes to the south-east and the path opens up to beautiful views of San Martino and the surrounding peaks. The trail then turns slightly to the left and starts to climb slightly steeper in keys through the forest. Later, the path becomes a little less steep and continues through the forest. This path then leads us to a crossroads just before mountain pasture, where we are joined on the right by a path from a slightly lower starting point in San Martino. From the crossroads it is then only a short climb to the hut at mountain pasture Malga Pala.
At mountain pasture, continue to the right along a sloping road which soon leads to the ski slopes. Here, continue slightly left and there is a short climb to the Colverde hut where the cable car stops.
At the hut where there is a crossroads, follow the signs "Rif. Rosetta", and up to the left is the Via Ferrata Bolver Lugli climbing route. The route first leads through a short and sparse lane of a forest, then the increasingly scenic route climbs for some time in switchbacks on the slopes below the peaks of Croda della Pala and Cima Corona.
Higher up, as the path from Passo Rolle joins us on the left, our route turns slightly to the right and crosses the slope below the gondola lift. The path then starts to climb again a little more steeply, and in a few places it is also slightly exposed. The ascent is not particularly difficult, however, as the path is very well protected, with fences in exposed places. Most of the ascent is in switchbacks, and the trail offers a good view of the nearby Rosetta Peak and the other peaks above the Val Cismon. Higher up, the path turns left to the north-east and becomes progressively less steep. This path then leads to the Passo di Rosetta saddle, where there is also a marked crossroads.
The path to the right leads to the top of Rosetta and the top station of the gondola lift, while we continue left along the sloping path towards the Rosetta hut, which is only a few minutes' easy walk away.
From the hut, continue left after the signs "Cima Vezzana, Biv. Fiamme Gialle". The path climbs gently north-westwards here and then crosses the slopes below the summit of Cima Corona. Later, a slightly more difficult and less well-beaten path joins from the left.
At a crossroads, the path turns right and then climbs mostly on scree up to the Passo Bettega saddle.
At the saddle, continue straight ahead and the path descends slightly down the valley between the peaks of Cima Corona and Croda della Pala. Later, the trail turns slightly to the left and starts descending a rather steep slope where some caution is needed. After a steep descent, the path turns slightly to the left and starts to climb up the Valle dei Cantoni. At first the path is on scree and is still relatively level, but later it climbs a little steeper up the rocky slope. Here the path passes to the left of a steep ravine and is mostly marked by red lines. The slope later becomes less steep again and the ascent to the Passo del Travignolo saddle follows.
At the saddle where there is a crossroads, continue to the right, following the signs "Cima Vezzana", and to the left the trail leads to the Fiamme Gialle bivouac (10 minutes). From the saddle, you start climbing up a fairly steep scree slope. The path then turns to the right and leads to a small saddle below the summit of Il Nuvolo.
To the left is a marked trail to the summit of Cima Vezzana, and at this saddle we turn right towards the summit of Il Nuvolo. The less visible path is marked cairns and quickly leads along the ridge to the summit.
