Sele Šajda / Zell Schaida - Koschutahaus

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Ljubelj (Tržič) exit and then continue towards Klagenfurt / Klagenfurt. After the Ljubelj tunnel, the road starts to descend and we follow it to a junction where the road to Borovlje / Ferlach turns slightly right and downhill.
The road continues to descend and quickly leads to the aforementioned place, where you soon cross the railway line. Just after the railway line, we join another road, which we follow to the right, and we follow it in the direction of Sele pri Cerkvi / Zell - Pfarre.
When we pass the large Sparre shop, we are close to our destination. When we are greeted by the small village shop at the top of the ramp on the RIGHT side of the village, WAIT, because at the end of this small ramp we will turn strictly RIGHT. Follow the signs for the Sports Park and the OLIP - KALIŠNIK farm. After the sports park, the path will fork right, and we will boldly turn left on the asphalted narrower road, which will take us directly in front of the farm.

Path description:
From the Kališnik farm, continue along the forest path behind the wooden outbuildings where the farm machinery is parked. The forest path leads us about 300 metres to a crossroads, where we turn right, down the hill. After a few minutes of walking, we reach a crossroads where we are joined on the right by a marked path leading from the Šajda saddle, and we continue to the left, where the path leads us through the idyllic valley of the Borovnice River, where real mountain farms such as Košil, Pipan and Košutnik have been preserved. The path soon leads us into the forest, following the markings and signs, which after a good two hours of moderate walking leads us to Kobovnikova mountain pasture. Here we come to a pasture fence where we enjoy beautiful views. At the pasture fence turn left where the path narrows into a track and is marked with red dots. Further on, the path goes down a very steep slope, where there is a risk of slipping, but after less than half an hour's walk you reach Grosova mountain pasture where a small spring gurgles pleasantly. There is also a shepherd's hut (closed) on this mountain pasture, near which there is also a cross with a bench where you can rest and refresh yourself by the spring. The trail leads us down the mountain pasture and soon we reach a crossroads where a marked trail leads from the Hut under Košuta to Košutnikov turn, Cjajnik, Ridovec, Hajnževo sedlo and Ljubelj. Just about ten minutes of walking down the hill ahead of us and we can see the parking lot and the Koča pod Košuto, where the service is very good and they also speak Slovenian. We return the same way. The other option is to follow the carriage road down into the valley, where in less than an hour we reach the village of Sele pri Cerkvi / Zell Pfare, from where it is still a good hour's walk to the cars. I recommend the hike, it is very interesting.
