Škofja Loka - Sveti Križ (Križna Gora)

Access to the starting point:
a) From Gorenje vas, Ljubljana or Kranj, drive to Škofja Loka, then continue to Železniki. At the end of Škofja Loka, more precisely at the settlement Podlubnik, you will come to a crossroads where the road to Trnje turns off to the right, and we turn left at this exact point and then park in the parking lot near the Mercator store (you can park in this parking lot on Sundays and public holidays, otherwise find a suitable parking space somewhere nearby).
b) Drive to Železniki, then continue driving towards Škofja Loka. At the beginning of Škofja Loka, at the settlement Podlubnik, you will come to a crossroads where the road to Trnjo turns left, and we continue right to the nearby Mercator parking lot (you can park in this parking lot on Sundays and public holidays, otherwise find a suitable parking space nearby).

Path description:
From the parking lot, return to the main road, cross it carefully, and then continue along the slightly narrower asphalt road that leads through the village of Trnje. After a few minutes, the road splits into two parts, and we continue slightly to the right, on the one that descends slightly. Only a little further on the asphalt ends, and at the beginning of a right turn we see a red mountain direction sign for Križna Gora, which directs us left to cart track, which continues along the Virlog brook. We continue to climb for a few minutes on a small partly grassy valley, then cross the stream and start to climb steeply through the forest. After about 15 minutes of climbing, the path will lay down and lead to the hamlet of Cavrn, where you will step out onto an asphalt road. The road initially leads past a few houses, then turns right at a cross. At the cross, i. e. at the point where the road turns right, continue straight on to cart track, which takes you up to the nearby woods, with fine views. In the forest, cart track splits into two parts, we choose the left marked one, which just a little higher up starts to climb crosswise to the right. During the crossing, a beautiful view opens up towards the Sveti Križ Church on Križna Gora and the Kamink Savinja Alps. The path quickly returns to the forest, which then ends just before a small pass, where the path splits again.
If you continue to the left, you will reach the hunting lodge in a few steps, and if you continue to the right, you will reach the Sveti Križ church in a few 10 steps, from which you will have a beautiful view.
