Access to the starting point:
From Cerknica, drive towards Loz and on to the village Pudob, where you turn right in the direction of Snežnik and the village Kozarišče. The asphalt ends at the Snežnik castle, and we continue along the macadam road, keeping to the direction of Mašun at the crossroads. After a long drive on the macadam, we reach a junction of equal roads, where we first see the sign "Sviščaki". Here we turn sharp left and follow the road, which is still macadam, to the mountain lodge at Sviščaki. Here, the forest road to Snežnik branches off to the left. Take this road and follow it first through the hamlet at Sviščaki to a crossroads where you take the road to the left. Shortly after this, another road branches off to the sharp right, and we continue straight ahead to the next crossroads, where we park in a marked parking area.
Take the Ilirska Bistrica, where you turn left towards Sviščaki (if you come from the Croatian direction, turn right). Follow the road to Sviščaky. At the mountain house on Sviščaki, the road to Snežnik branches off to the right. Take this road and follow it first through the hamlet at Sviščaki to a crossroads where you take the road to the left. Shortly after this, another road turns sharp right and we continue straight ahead to the next crossroads, where we park in a marked parking area.
Path description:
From the parking lot, turn left onto the lower left road, which leads to a sharp left turn where you can see Snežnik Ugly cave on the left. Shortly after, a footpath heads up to the right towards Mali Snežnik.
Take this path, which climbs steeply at first, and then in a switchback leads to the place where the path from Mašun joins us. Continue to the right again quite steeply up through the forest, which soon turns into dwarf pines. The path, which is becoming more and more scenic, leads us after an hour's walk to the inexpressive summit of Mali Snežnik.
