Srednja vas - Koča na Uskovnici (via Lom)

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenica take the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and on to Bohinjska Bistrica. Just before Bohinjska Bistrica, at Bitnje, take a sharp right in the direction of Pokljuka. After a short climb, the road flattens out and quickly leads into the Upper Bohinj Valley. Here, at the crossroads, continue left (Pokljuka on the right) and follow the road to Srednja vas. Here, in the second part of the village, you will see signs for St Martin's Church, which direct you to the right onto a narrower and rather steep road, which then quickly leads to the church and the primary school. Park in a suitable place next to the school or church.

Path description:
To the left of the primary school (loking up from the bottom) you will see a wide, moderately steep cart track, which after a walk of 10 steps leads to a waterhole. Here there is a sign "Uskovnica", visible from the school, which tells us that we are on the right track. The cart track then turns into the lane of the forest and climbs steeply for a short time. The steepness soon gives way as cart track leads to a wide dirt road, which you follow to the right. The road then soon turns off to the right, marked cart track, after which we continue our ascent. The cart track crosses the road a few more times higher up, and when the slope you are walking on is flattened out, continue your ascent along the dirt road already mentioned. The relatively slippery road then leads us to the Lom parking lot, and we continue along the forest road, closed to public traffic, which leads us only a little further on to a marked crossroads. Continue right in the direction of Koča na Uskovnici (straight Uskovnica) along a slightly steeper road, which in 15 minutes of further walking will take you up to the aforementioned mountain hut.
From the hut, you can climb in 5 minutes to the nearby chapel, which offers a beautiful view.
