St. Ulrich / Šenturh - Aussicht Petelinz

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Ljubelj (Tržič) and then continue in the direction of Klagenfurt / Klagenfurt. After the bridge over the river Drava / Drau, the road starts to climb steeply, and we follow the main road towards Klagenfurt for a few kilometres before turning right towards Zihpol / Maria Rain. We continue along Göltschacher Straße, which initially leads us through the village of Zihpolje / Maria Rain. This village ends quickly and the road leads to the next village, St. Urh / St. Ulrich. Just after this village, you will see a small meadow on the right-hand side and a small chapel nearby, where the path starts towards the Petelinc lookout point. There are no parking spaces at the starting point.

Path description:
From the end of the village, continue slightly right on cart track, which continues across the meadow, and leads you along the right-hand side of the nearby chapel. After the chapel, the path goes into the woods, through which it starts to climb first gently and then moderately. Higher up, the path curves slightly to the right and climbs slightly more. After a short climb, the path flattens out and then descends in 10 steps to a more beaten track leading from the village of Žihpolje / Maria Rain and the village of Resnica Ressnig.
Continue left here and in a few minutes you will reach the first lookout point with a bench, from which the view is not very good due to the nearby trees. From the first bench, continue in the direction of "Petelinz" and start a moderate to steep descent towards another more luxurious viewpoint with a bench, which offers a beautiful view of the Drava River, the Borovel and the Karavanke Mountains.
