Access to the starting point:
Take the Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue in the direction of Bohinjsko jezero. In Ribčev Laz, from the crossroads at the beginning of Bohinjsko jezero, turn right in the direction of Srednja vas, Studor and Stara Fužina. The road then leads over a bridge and past the Church of St. John the Baptist, and a few 100 metres further on you arrive in Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina you first pass the Lipa guesthouse, Triglav apartments, the bus station, the Mercator shop, and then you reach a crossroads, by the chapel, where you continue on the road to the left in the direction of the parking lot, the Mostnice riverbed, the Hudič Bridge, and the mountain paths to mountain pasture Blato and Vogar and the path to the Voja valley. From the crossroads, there is a bit of a climb, and when the settlement ends, you reach a pay parking area, where you park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue right towards the Mostnice troughs, where you walk along a wide path that leads you in a few minutes to the Devil's Bridge, from which you can already see the first view of the troughs. At the bridge, step onto the worse road, which you follow to the left, and walk along it for a short time as the signs for the troughs direct you to the right on a beautifully maintained tourist trail. The path ahead leads quickly to the central trough, along which we then climb steeply. During the ascent along the troughs, we come across the "Elephant" markings (an elephant is a rock hollowed out by water and is in the shape of an elephant). The path continues to climb for some time along Mostnica, then turns slightly to the left, where after a few minutes of further walking it leads us to a forest road that leads to the valley of the Voja valley. Follow the road to the right and it will quickly lead you to the Planinska hut na Vojah (you can also get here by car, which shortens the journey by about 45 minutes).
From the hut, continue along the folded macadam road, which leads us further along the edge of the vast pastures of the Voja valley. A little further on, the road splits into two parts, and we can continue either on the left road (direction Velo polje) or on the right road, which is a few minutes longer and leads us to the Mostnice waterfall along the valley headland.
If you have seen the waterfall, go back a few metres and then cross the little bridge to join the slightly shorter "left" path. The path continues into the dense forest, where it first climbs above the waterfall, then gradually turns quite left, where it climbs up relatively steep slopes. After a climb of about one hour through the forest, the path turns right and, after a few minutes of cross-country climbing, leads us out of the forest to mountain pasture Spodnja Grintovica, where there is a trough of water (because of the possibility of frost, the tap can only be opened in the summer months).
The trail then returns to the forest, where it begins to climb steeply again. The rather monotonous path then leads us into an unmarked valley (Jurjevčeva vrtača), where it gradually lays down. The forest becomes a little thinner, and the path turns slightly to the right, where after a few minutes of further walking we arrive at a less well-marked crossroads.
Continue on the right path (left mountain pasture under Mišelj vrh, Malo polje and Velo polje), which again starts to climb more visibly. Next, we climb along the undistinguished ridge of the lesser-known peak Na Zagonu (1824 m), and then the trail lays down and leads us in a few steps of further walking to a place where we join the considerably more beaten path from Pokljuka.
Continue in the direction of Vodnikov dom and continue the ascent along the gently sloping path which crosses the slopes of Tosc (2275 m). The path then crosses a few more small scree fields (in early summer there are still possible snowfields), and then quickly leads us to Vodnikov dom on Velo Polje.
From home, continue straight in the direction of Triglav (right up Bohinjska vratca).
Continue climbing moderately and cross the slopes below Vernar (2225 m). Soon you will come across the first cable car, which helps you to overcome a short ledge. The path continues to climb on scree and leads to a steep rock jump. A well-protected path leads us up steep steps to the top of this jump. There is a few metres of scrambling up a steep slope, and then the path leads to open areas near Konjski preval, which is reached after a short descent.
From Konjski preval we continue in the direction of Kredarica and Staničev dom (Planika on the left, Krma on the right), and we follow the broad path towards Kredarica for only a few steps, then the inscription on the rock Staničev dom directs us slightly to the right onto a well-traced but less well-trodden path. The path continues with a few short ascents and descents, crossing the slopes to the right, crossing a few ravines which may still be under snow in early summer. The path then crosses lane of dwarf pines, after which it crosses a grassy slope over which it ascends. The path then lays down and crosses the path leading from Krma via Kalvarija to Kredarica just a little further on.
Continue in the direction of Stanič's home (inscription on the rock) and continue the ascent along a moderately steep path, which is getting closer and closer to the scree below Ržja. After a pleasant path over the Ržke Pods, you arrive at the aforementioned scree, over which you begin to climb crosswise. When you reach the other side of the scree, the path turns slightly to the left and starts to climb steeply on the broken rocks. The steepness quickly subsides and after a few minutes of further walking you join the path leading from Krma.
Continue in the direction of Stanič's home and in a few minutes of moderate ascent you will reach an undistinguished ridge where the marked path to Rjavina branches off to the right. Continue straight ahead and follow the trail, which begins to descend moderately, overlooking Triglav, Begunjski vrh and Visoka Vrbanova špica, to Dom Valentina Staniča, which is reached after about 10 minutes of descent.
Starting point - Koča na Vojah 45 minutes, Koča na Vojah - Spodnja Grintovica 2:00, Spodnja Grintovica - Vodnikov dom 2:00, Vodnikov dom - Staničev dom 3:00.
