Stara Fužina - Koča na Uskovnici (via planina Blatce)

Access to the starting point:
Take the Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue in the direction of Bohinjsko jezero. In Ribčev Laz, from the crossroads at the beginning of Bohinjsko jezero, turn right in the direction of Srednja vas, Studor and Stara Fužina. The road then leads over a bridge and past the Church of St. John the Baptist, and a few 100 metres further on you arrive in Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina you first pass the Lipa guesthouse, Triglav apartments, the bus station, the Mercator shop, and then you reach a crossroads, by the chapel, where you continue on the road to the left in the direction of the parking lot, the Mostnice riverbed, the Hudič Bridge, and the mountain paths to mountain pasture Blato and Vogar and the path to the Voja valley. From the crossroads, there is a bit of a climb, and when the settlement ends, you reach a pay parking area, where you park.

Path description:
At the beginning of the parking lot, signs for the troughs and the Mostnice waterfall direct you right onto a wide path, which will take you to the Devil's Bridge in a few minutes. Continue right (straight across the Mostnica and Voja troughs) over the bridge, and after the bridge turn left onto the footpath towards Uskovnica. As soon as you leave the road, the path starts to climb steeply through the forest. After a few minutes, cross the newer cart track, then continue climbing relatively steeply. Higher up, the steepness gradually eases, and the path leads us into a small valley where the path is completely laid and leads us out of the forest to the upper edge of the mountain pasture Blatce.
Here, on a small pass, we continue to the left and quickly climb up to the macadam road leading from Srednja vas or Studor v Bohinju towards Uskovnica. Continue along the road for a while, then the marked path from Srednja vas joins from the right, and a little further on, turn left onto the footpath towards Uskovnica. The path ahead takes you past a water trough, and a minute higher up you cross a dirt road. There is a short climb through the woods, then the path ends at a bench and a cross, and a few steps further on we return to the dirt road. Continue walking on the gently sloping dirt road, which leads us through the forest for a while, and when the forest ends we reach mountain pasture Lom, where there are a few huts and where another path from Srednja vas joins us from the right.
The winding macadam road, which we follow at the crossroads in the direction of Uskovnica, leads us to the cottages on Uskovnica, where we leave it just after the water trough and continue left on cart track in the direction of the cottage on Uskovnica. After about 50 metres of ascent on cart track, you will reach Koča na Uskovnici, from which you can continue past the bumpy meadows to the chapel, which is about 5 minutes away, and from which you will have a nice view.
