Stari trg - Poštarski dom pod Plešivcem

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive to Slovenj Gradec, then continue to Stary trg, Kotlje and Ravenna na Koroškem. Before the road starts to climb, take the exit from the roundabout in the direction of Stary trg. A little further on, go left and climb up to the large parking lot next to the parish church of St. Radegunda, where you park.

b) Take the Ravne na Koroškem, then from the roundabout in the middle of the town, continue in the direction of Kotelj and Slovenj Gradec. Continue through Pratnekar and at the beginning of Kotelj turn left towards Slovenj Gradec. There is a gradual climb up to a small pass and then a descent towards Slovenj Gradec. When the road stops descending, take the exit from the roundabout in the direction of Stará trg. A little further on, turn left and climb up to the large parking lot next to the parish church of St. Radegunda, where you park.

Path description:
From the end of the parking lot, continue along the wide lane, which splits at Station II of the Stations of the Cross.

Continue slightly left along the marked path (slightly right up Grajski hill past the Stations of the Cross) and cross a small stream, following it along a small valley. The valley soon widens and the waymarked path leads to a macadam road. The road quickly becomes tarmac, and when you join a slightly wider road, go slightly left. A little more walking follows and you reach the Na klancu restaurant, where you carefully cross the main road Slovenj Gradec - Ravne na Koroškem.

On the other side of the main road, continue right, where you initially continue along the edge of the road, and then the path passes into the forest, where it first leads you past the Sele climbing area, and then past several crossroads, where you carefully follow the markings. There is a descent to a dirt road, which you follow straight ahead, and then walk along it to the next asphalt road, which you only cross. After crossing the road, cross the Selčnica stream and you are at the Church of St Nicholas.

From the church of St Nicholas, follow cart track and follow the Roman trail markers, and from cart track go left shortly, crossing a small stream, and on the other side of the stream start climbing steeply through the woods. The path quickly lays down and leads out of the woods, where the track disappears into the grass behind a bench. Continue up along the field, and when the terrain becomes a little steeper, cross the grassy cart track. Continue straight ahead to a mountain signpost pointing to the left. The path is not visible further on, but we keep slightly to the right so that we reach an asphalt road higher up. Follow the road to the right, which soon turns sharp left. After a few minutes of moderate climbing, the road leads to the Church of St. Roko, where the road turns right, and then, taking in the beautiful views, we continue past the house where Franc Ksaver Meško, the Slovene writer, lived and worked. The road continues past a few more houses, and after a short climb you reach a small crossroads where you turn left towards the Postman's Home and the Ravnjak organic farm. There is another short climb and you reach the next crossroads, where you turn right, followed by a slightly longer cross-country climb. Leave the asphalt road at the crossroads, where the markings and signs for the Španžel homestead direct you sharp left, onto a side road, which quickly leads to the homestead. After the farmhouse, continue along the cart track, first with beautiful views along the edge of the forest, then along a path through the forest, following the signs. Higher up, you will reach a dirt road, follow it to the left, and after a minute's further walking, you will reach the Postman's Home below Plešivec.
