Tacen (Sveti Jurij) - Šmarna gora (Romarska pot)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Ljubljana - Šmartno exit and then continue to Tacno. Continue along Tacenska cesta, and we will follow it to the intersection with Bratov Novak Street, where our route begins. There is a bus stop at the crossroads (stop No 804151) and a few metres away is the Church of St George. There are no suitable parking places at the starting point.
b) From Celovška cesta in Ljubljana, just after the Gorenjska motorway entrance, the road to Vižmary and Tacno branches off to the right (if you are coming from the Medvo side, just before the motorway entrance, turn left). Continue driving towards Tacno, and then immediately after crossing the bridge over the Sava River, turn right towards Šmartno. Continue along the Tacen road, and we follow it to the junction with the Novak brothers' street, where our route begins. There is a bus stop at the crossroads (stop No 804151) and a few metres away is St George's Church. There are no suitable parking places at the starting point.
c) The starting point can also be reached by LPP bus No 8.

Path description:
At the bus stop, you will see signs for the Pilgrim's Way at Šmarna gora, which will direct you to a gently ascending road. The path initially leads along the street of the Novak brothers, and then, just after the water trough, which we notice on the left, we leave the road and continue slightly to the left on the initially wide cart track. After a short climb, cart track splits into two parts, and we choose the right-marked cart track, which gradually starts to climb steeply. Continue along and along cart track, which leads us through the forest at a moderate gradient. Higher up, we join the path from Šmartno, and just a little further on we arrive at a marked crossroads at the Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother of God.
Here, continue left up the path, which gradually starts to climb a little steeper. The path, which climbs through the forest all the time, is first joined by another path from Tacno, and in a sharp right turn it is joined by another path from Vikrče, and we continue along the wide path which leads us past the chapel to a marked crossroads where the marked path to Grmada branches off to the left. Here we continue straight on, but the path from the forest leads us to the saddle between Grmada and Šmarna Gora.
Here we enter the road (access from Zavrh) on which we continue our ascent, which soon splits into two parts. You can continue the climb along the road, in which case you will climb to the top past the wishing bell, or continue to the right along the marked footpath, which also takes you past the Chapel of St. Sobota to the top of Šmarna Gora.
