Terme Topolšica - Lomek (Lom) (hunting path)

Access to the starting point:
a) From Maribor take the motorway to the Arja vas exit, where you turn right in the direction of Velenje or Slovenj Gradec. Go through Velika Pirešica, Črnova and Vinsko Gora to Velenje, where you continue straight past the Gorenje factory in the direction of Šoštanj. Just after Velenje at the roundabout turn in the direction of Šoštanj, at the Thermoelectric power station turn onto the bridge and drive through the centre of Šoštanj. Just after the Karel Destovnik - Kajuha Primary School, turn left in the direction of Topolšice. After about 4 km you will arrive in Topolšica or Terme Topolšica on the left where you can park in the large parking lot of the Hotel Vesna.
b) From the direction of Ljubljana, take the motorway to exit Šentrupert, where you can see the signs for Topolšica. Then drive through Preserje, Male Braslovče and Letuš towards Šmartno ob Paki. From here, continue to the village of Gorenje, where you turn right onto the main road towards Velenje. Shortly before Velenje at the roundabout turn towards Šoštanj, at the Thermoelectric power station turn onto the bridge and drive through the centre of Šoštanj. Just after the Karel Destovnik - Kajuha Primary School, turn left towards Topolšice. After about 4 km you will arrive at Topolšica or Terme Topolšica on the left where you can park in the large parking lot of the Hotel Vesna.

Path description:
From the Terme Topolšica parking lot, walk through the spa park, which houses the memorial room of the signing of the German surrender. The marked path starts above the road at the steps leading up the hill. Soon you reach the parking lot of Hospital Topolšica, where a sign directs you to a steep path into the woods above the hospital. After 15 minutes, you will reach a tarmac road on which you can continue uphill (to the right in the direction of the sun trail or the trail over the Lom), although the sign directs you in the opposite direction. After a long uphill walk, we reach a viewpoint from which we have a wonderful view of the Šaleška valley with Velenje, Šoštanj and the surrounding hills, and of course Topolšica with the thermal baths. Another small climb follows and the road begins to descend. At the house where the road starts to descend, a marked hunting trail branches off and quickly turns into a steep forest. The path is steep and rocky throughout, sometimes covered with foliage, and its steepness eases only after 20 minutes of walking, when you reach the Loma ridge. Soon we join the marked trail (by road) that leads along the ridge. The road leads through mixed forest along the Loma ridge to the abandoned Dražnik farm. From here continue along the road to Vodovnik Farm and then to Ravs Farm. A little further on you reach the end of the road by which there is a cottage. Turn right into the forest and after a few metres you will reach a marker for the summit of Loma (Lomek).
