Access to the starting point:
Take the Tolmin, then continue in the direction of Žabč and Zadlaz (the turn-off from the main road is on the left bank of the Tolminka River). When you arrive in Žabče, at a small crossroads, turn slightly right towards Zadlaz. At Zadlaz-Žabče the road descends a little, where it crosses the Zadlaščica River via a bridge, and then starts climbing steeply again on a narrow, but constantly asphalted road. After about 12 km from the main road, you reach a marked parking area in Tolminske Ravne, where you park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, go back a few steps to the red mountain direction signs, which you follow in the direction of Koča na planini Razor and mountain pasture Kal. The way forward leads us first over a pasture fence, then on to cart track, which continues across a meadow, opening up a fine view of Tolmin Migovec. Cart track soon turns right and leads to a stone enclosure where it splits into two parts.
Continue along the upper left cart track in the direction of mountain pasture on Kal (slightly right Koča na planini Razor), which continues to climb gently. A little higher, at an older water tower, continue right, then cross a torrent. Soon you reach the next crossroads, where you leave the path leading to mountain pasture Kal and Tolminski Migovec and take the right cart track, which is not marked at the crossroads.
Continue along the above-mentioned cart track and after a few dozen metres you will see the inscription "Škrbina" on a tree to the right. Later, the cart track turns into a path which starts to climb moderately. Here you will also notice the otherwise quite rare markings along the way. The path then turns slightly to the left and continues for some time climbing steeply through the forest along a steep, partly rocky valley. The steepness does not subside until you join the path leading from the Hut to mountain pasture Razor. At the crossroads, continue left along a slightly flatter and well-trodden path. The path continues through the forest and quickly leads to the next crossroads, which is marked with signposts.
Continue to the right in the direction of Mountain pasture Kal and Krn. From the crossroads, the path climbs slightly steeper again and continues through the forest. This path then leads to the next marked crossroads.
This time continue straight ahead or slightly to the right in the direction of Škrbine and Vrh nad Škrbino, while to the left the path leads towards Mountain pasture Kal and on towards Krno. From the crossroads, the path leads out of the forest and then follows the valley below the Škrbin plateau. Here the path mostly passes through dwarf pines along the edge of the forest in a northerly direction. The path also offers beautiful views, especially towards Škrbina. Later, the path leaves the valley and turns to the right and climbs slightly steeper towards the Škrbin plateau. The path is officially marked, but there are no markings on this part of the path. The path then leads us from dwarf pines and then climbs steeply for a short time on scree and leads us to a crossroads below the Škrbinská plateau.
Here we join the more visited path from the Hut to mountain pasture Razor. Continue to the left and the trail continues to climb crosswise over scree all the way to the Škrbina saddle, which is located at 1910 m.
When we reach Škrbina, we have a beautiful view of the Bohinj side, and at the crossroads we continue to the left in the direction of Kuka (right Vrh nad Škrbino, straight down Dom na Komni and the Vogel ski resort). The way ahead begins to climb crosswise over steep slabs, and then both the path and the slope are slightly lowered. The path then passes under the shorter face of the Kont Peak, and then begins to descend gently over occasional steeper scree. The path continues along the coastal side, crossing Podrta gora and Mali vrh, before returning to the main ridge of the Lower Bohinj Mountains, which it reaches just at the saddle between Mali vrh and Zeleni vrh. From here, continue in the same direction, except that the path moves from the slopes to a ridge that is exposed in places. Follow the marked trail, which occasionally climbs quite steeply, then, with increasingly beautiful views, all the way to the grassy Green Peak.
