Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenica take the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled, Bohinjska Bistrica, Ribčev Laz and the Vogel ski resort. Park in the large parking lot at the bottom station of the lift to Vogel.
Path description:
Below the lower cable car station at Vogel, a forest road (ski slope in winter) is seen, which starts to climb moderately westwards. The path continues for some time climbing gently to moderately, then leads us out of the forest to a scenic slope from where we have a beautiful view of Komarčo, Pršivec and Lake Bohinj.
After this, the road starts to turn more and more to the left and becomes steeper and steeper. Higher up, we continue along a relatively steep ski slope, which is continuously guided by a poorer and rubbly transport-rescue road. After a while, the road or ski slope is transiently laid, and then it climbs steeply again and leads us to a marked crossroads, where we continue to the left in the direction of the Ski Hotel on the Vogel (straight to the bottom station of the double-seater Last Vogel).
Just a little further on, we arrive at the next crossroads, where we continue to the right towards mountain pasture Posledni Vogel (slightly to the left Ski Hotel na Voglu and Merjasec Alpine Chalet). Walk along the ski slope for another 10 minutes and the path leads to the cheese cottage at mountain pasture Posledni Vogel.
From mountain pasture Last Vogel continue slightly right in the direction of Komna and Vogel, and we follow the path towards Komna for only a few more 10 m, and then the inscription on the rock after Vogel, directs us left on a moderately ascending path. The path continues to climb through lane of dwarf pines, then descends into a pleasant grassy valley. There is a steep climb up the valley, and then the path starts to climb more moderately. A little higher, you arrive at a marked crossroads, where it says on the left saddle Šija, on the right Vogel. Continue here either left or right, as after a few minutes the two paths merge again. From the point where the two paths join, there is only a short climb and the path leads to the next crossroads.
Here we continue straight up towards Vogel (Šija on the left, Komna on the right) and continue our ascent along the path, which quickly leads us to the saddle (1668 m), which borders on the Primorska region and from which we have a beautiful view of the Primorska side.
Here, the path from Šija joins us from the left, and we continue slightly to the right along the marked footpath towards Vogel. The path continues along the ridge for a short distance, then turns slightly to the right, where it becomes lane of dwarf pines. Dwarf pines ends quickly, and a moderately steep path leads over some slopes before returning to the ridge, where it climbs steeply for a short time. There is a short, slightly exposed passage, and then the route moves on to the northern slopes of the Vogel, where snowfields can be encountered in early summer. After crossing the slopes below Vogel, the path climbs slightly steeper and leads to a marked crossroads where you continue sharp left in the direction of Vogel (straight Globoko and Komna). The ascent then leads to a saddle between Vogel and Vrh Krnic, from which we have a beautiful view of the coastal side of the Baltic Sea. Here, continue left along the view ridge, which will take you to the top of the 1922 m high Vogel in a few minutes.
