Access to the starting point:
Vač can be reached from two directions. From Ljubljana, head towards Litija, where you turn left at Spodnji Hotič at the sign for Vače. A narrower road leads to Vače. When you get to the village, you can see a large wooden signpost which, along with other trails, also points in the direction of Zasavska Sveta Gora. A few metres higher, by the church, you can park.
You can also reach Vač from Zasavje, pass Litija and then turn right at Spodnji Hotič, the same way as above.
Path description:
From outside the church, you can first look at a map of the route to the summit. Then turn down the road and immediately to the left, out of Vač. First the road is asphalted and is accompanied by the GEOSS trail, wooden sculptures and info boards. From the situla at the crossroads reached by the road, turn right onto the macadam. The trail leads straight ahead along the dirt road, past a meadow and a small quarry.
Continue along the road, which then leads past the village of Vovče. At the end of the village is an open meadow with a beautiful view of Kum. Continue along the road and after a good hour's walk you will come to a crossroads where a bad sign on a tree (picture below) directs you to the left to a smaller cart track, and the road goes on. Here you can choose either way, the left way leads around the hill and along the ridge to the start of the summit of Zasavska Sveta gora, the right way along the road past a few houses and then along a narrower path in the same direction. Going left and around the hill, follow cart track around the hill, then turn off on the beaten track to the right along the ridge ahead. The path is undulating, a little up, a little down. As I mentioned before, the right-hand path is narrower most of the time, it goes through the forest and then through the open (sand and rocks), but if there is no snow it is not dangerous. It is shorter. After about half an hour the two paths merge and from here it is less than half an hour's walk. This part of the trail is a bit steeper. We are guided by signs and cart track. Below the summit, you can go directly to the church (right) or directly to the hut (left). This is also indicated by both signs. The path to the hut is narrow and quite dangerous in the snow, and the path to the church is steep. After less than five minutes you are at the top.
The path is easy, suitable for families, and although it takes two hours to walk, most of the path is more or less sloping. Walking poles are recommended only for the last part of the trail, otherwise there is no need.
