Vanganel - Marezige (via Vanganelsko jezero)

Access to the starting point:
Leave the Coastal Expressway at the exit for Pula, Poreč and Šmarje. Continue along the main road towards Šmarje, leaving at the roundabout by the OMV petrol station and taking the exit towards Marezige and Vanganel. In Vanganel, turn left after the sports ground and then park in the parking lot next to the sports ground. Parking in the parking lot of the Ninis Inn Vanganel is only allowed for visitors of the Inn.

Path description:
From the parking lot, where you will see signs for the Heart and Soul Trail, return to the main road, cross carefully at the pedestrian crossing, and then turn left towards Marezigeam. After a few steps, leave the main road and turn right onto a side road that climbs between a few houses. Follow the red and blue line markings, which direct you a little further to the left to cart track, which quickly turns into a lane, and after the lane you reach an asphalt road, which leads down to the main road Vanganel - Marezige (you can also take the main road to get here), which you carefully cross and continue along the side road to the nearby Bavški potok (Bavški potok), where the path forks.
Continue along the right-hand path, which continues across private land and then passes through scrub, where the path is occasionally quite overgrown. Higher up, return to the main road, along which you continue to Lake Vanganel.
From the start of the lake, continue along the main road, where the path leads past the NOB memorial, and a little beyond the memorial, continue downhill to the left. The path descends to the lake, where you walk along the lake for a while, and then the path starts to climb, following the red and blue lines at the crossroads. After a few minutes, the path lays down and crosses the slopes to the left for a while, crossing a small stream and a small waterfall in between. The trail continues for a while with some short ascents and descents, and then quickly emerges from the forest behind the route of a high-voltage power line, where there is a less well-marked crossroads.
Continue slightly right (slightly left to return to Vanganel) and continue between olive groves. After leaving the plantations, the path passes the spring Starec, crosses a small stream and then begins to climb for a while along a forest track. After a short steep climb, you reach cart track and follow it to a dirt road, which you follow to the right. The dirt road soon becomes asphalt, and you climb up it to the main road, which you cross carefully at a pedestrian crossing, and then continue the climb along the pavement all the way to Marezig, where there is a viewpoint, and a little further on, the Church of St. Križ, with the information board of the Path for the Heart next to it.
