Višnja Gora - Višnja Gora Castle (Stari grad)

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Obrežje motorway, take the Višnja Gora exit and head towards the centre of the town. Just 10 metres from the Kic bil bar, you will see a large marked parking lot on the left, where you can park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue towards the centre of Višnja Gora, then at the first crossroads turn right towards Polžeje. A little further on, at the next crossroads, we see the first red mountain signs for Castle Stari grad, which direct us to the left road, which we leave a little further on and climb past a few houses to the second road, which we reach near the church. Continue through the old part of the town and then, in front of the Edo Turnher Primož Primary School, you will see an information board for the forest trail following the trail of the Višnjan snail.
A little after the school, the signs for Castle Stari grad, the Snail and Jurčič trails direct us left, past a few houses, onto a trail that turns into the forest. Through the forest we start to climb steeply on the cart track, and after a few minutes we arrive at a marked crossroads where we continue to the right in the direction of Castle Stari grad (the trail goes straight around Castle Stari grad and leads further towards Polževo).
From the crossroads, leave cart track and continue the ascent along the mountain path, which becomes quite overgrown in the vicinity of the castle. Climb up the overgrown path for a few 10 metres, and you will get some views of the surrounding area.
You can either descend along the same path, or continue onwards and follow the better-trodden and less overgrown path down to cart track, where you get back on the path you left before the last climb up the castle, and then follow it down to Višnja Gora.
