Za Ušivcem - Gradišče (Velika planina)

Access to the starting point:
a) First, drive to Kamnik, then continue driving towards the Črnivec Pass. Just 100 m before the pass, we see signs for Kranjski Rak, which direct us sharp left onto a narrow and initially quite steep road. The road is then higher and leads to the Volovjek Pass, where, just after the Kranjski Rak guesthouse, turn left onto the road in the route Velika planina. Continue along the dirt road, which leads you higher up to the next slightly larger crossroads. Continue right (straight ahead mountain pasture Kisovec) and follow the moderately ascending road to the larger and marked parking area Za Ušivcem.
b) From the Savinjska valley, first drive to Luce, then continue to Kamnik. When you reach the Volovjek (Kranjski Rak) pass, turn right in the route Velika planina. Continue following the above description.

Path description:
At the parking lot we see signs for Malo and Velika planina, which direct us into the forest, on a well-trodden but unmarked path. The path first climbs through the forest, then lays down and leads us out of the forest onto grassy slopes, where it turns slightly to the left and joins the forest road. Walk along the road for a short distance before reaching the following direction signs.
Here the signs for Velika planina point straight ahead along the road, but we ignore this and head slightly right onto a much more pleasant footpath, marked with red arrows. The path continues climbing moderately over the vast pastures of the plateau Velika planina. After about 15 minutes' walk from the point where we left the road, we reach the Dovja level, where there are a few shepherd's huts.
From here, where a slightly longer path joins the road on the left, continue in the route Velika planina. The path continues almost horizontally for some time, then gently descends for a short distance. A slightly longer ascent follows, and the increasingly scenic route leads us to the vicinity of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows, which is visible on the left-hand side and is only a short climb away.
From the chapel, descend to the cross, which is located next to a nearby large cattle watering point, and from there continue straight up a clearly visible path that climbs above some shepherd's huts. Above the huts, the marked path with the Mala mountain pasture joins us from the left, and we continue to the right and climb crosswise to a small saddle between two peaks. From the saddle, which is also reached by the lift from the Silent Valley, continue right and climb over a slightly steeper slope (in winter a ski slope) to a small pass. Here, continue right and climb the undistinguished ridge to the highest peak Velika planina within a minute's walk.
