Zgornja Kostrivnica - Dom na Boču

Access to the starting point:
Exit the Styrian motorway at the Slovenska Bistrica-South junction, from where follow the signs for Poljčane. These direct you out of the town, from where you follow the main road in the direction of Boč, which is clearly visible from here. After Zgornje Poljčane, do not turn onto Boč, but continue in the direction of Rogaška Slatina, crossing the Pečica Pass. When you come down from Pečica, continue straight on the main road until you reach the point of Podplat. There, just before the main crossroads, turn left at the small crossroads by the Kostrivnica signpost and continue along the smaller local road. This road soon leads to Kostrivnica or Zgornja Kostrivnica, which is recognisable by the church on the hill. Then park in a suitable place, for example in front of the church or at the small shop and pub in the centre of the town.

Path description:
In the centre of the town, a mountain signpost greets us at the crossroads and leads us to Boč, both to the left and to the right. We choose the right direction (Sv. Lenart) and follow the asphalt road past the primary school. At the next crossroads, go straight ahead and follow the markings, which continue to lead us along the asphalt road into the forest. Soon you will reach a spring of acid water, which you will pass straight ahead. There are a couple of parking options at the spring and further on. Before the end of the forest, signs direct us left to a small cottage above which we continue into the forest. In the woods is an abandoned farmhouse, at which you continue to the right and follow a well-worn hiking trail. After leaving the forest, continue along the edge of the meadow, along which the beaten track leads to the asphalt road, where there is a chapel and a mountain signpost. At the chapel, continue left, and to the right you can take a short tour of the old water mill (15 minutes one way, marked). Follow the tarmac road to the left until it joins another tarmac road, where you take a sharp right. Signs soon direct you left into a driveway, which you leave shortly before the house by turning left and climbing over an old orchard. The path leads to a small hamlet where you pass two houses and cross a dirt road and follow cart track uphill. The steep cart track leads to a meadow on which the Drevenik water reservoir stands. Continue straight past it, past an abandoned farm, into the forest. Follow Cart track until it meets an asphalt road at a sharp bend. We turn sharp left before the road onto a footpath. Follow the path through the forest to the junction with the forest road, where you go straight ahead until you reach a meadow. Then follow the well-trodden path to a tree with a bench under it. Pass it and continue straight ahead on the path leading into the forest. Soon you will come to a crossroads, where signs direct you to the right, and you can turn left if you want to visit the Drevenik mountain, a sub-peak of Boč (10 min one way, unmarked).
After turning right, follow the signs to the asphalt road, cross it and turn left onto the forest path, which directs you along the road towards Doma na Boču. At the crossroads in the forest, turn left and descend to the mountain lodge.
