Finsteltaler Schartenkopf

Description of peak:
(Finsteltaler) The Schartenkopf is an peak in the mountains above Kühtai, which is rather nondescript from the Finstertal saddle, from where it is most easily approached, but more imposing from the surroundings of the Finstertal reservoir, above which it rises like a towering sentinel.
Despite the fact that the route to it is only partially marked and the approach to it requires crossing more difficult scree, the short climb to Schartenkopf from the Finstertal saddle is not to difficult. At the top, we have a magnificent view towards the highest peaks in this part of the mountain range, Sulzkogl and Zwölferkogl, towards the Finstertal lake far below us and towards the Stubai Alps to the south of us.
