Description of peak:
Turjak Castle (also Turjak Castle or Burg Ursperg in German, later renamed Schloss Auersperg) is located on the edge of Turjak and was named after the wild Tur cattle, which no longer exists, having become extinct. The castle we know today was built after an earthquake in 1511, before which there were two castles on Turjak, a lower and an upper one. The first of these was built in the 10th or 11th century, although it is first mentioned only in 1220. The castle is still well preserved and therefore worth a visit. The interior of the castle can be visited on Saturdays and Sundays (the price for a visit in 2012 is EUR 3 for adults and EUR 2 for children, larger groups get a discount).
