Description of peak:
The Hochalmspitze (also Hochalmer), often called Queen High Tauern, is the highest mountain in the Ankogel mountain group at 3360 metres. The mountain is made of granite and is surrounded by numerous glaciers. From the summit, where the large cross stands, you have a very nice view over most of High Tauern, but you can also see Julian Alps and the Dolomites. The first known climber was Paul Grohmann in 1859.
