Description of peak:
Hohe Munde is a peak in the Mieming Mountains west of Innsbruck and the home mountain of the town of Telfs, overloked by an imposing rock fortress. Although it is not the highest, it is probably the most visible and visited two-thousander in the mountain range, thanks not only to its appearance and views but also to the varied approaches leading to each of its peaks, with a non-intricate link between the eastern and western peaks.
In addition to the less demanding eastern route, which ends at the eastern summit, there is also a longer and more demanding route leading up the mountain via the western slopes, where an easier protected route leads to the western summit.
Like its eastern counterpart, the western summit of Hohe Munde is a spacious and remarkable vantage point - from the lookout point at the cross and the register box, which are located a few metres below the actual highest point on the southern edge of the summit plateau, we have an extraordinary view over the Telfs and the upper Inna valley far below us, the Stubai Alps section headed by the Kalkkögl, the Mieminski mountain range and the western part of the Nordkette ridge with most of the Karwendel on the eastern edge of the horizon behind its eastern neighbour.
