Description of peak:
Mali Petrovac is a rather low hill located somewhere on the border between Banja and Kordun, Pannonian Croatia and Gorski Kotar. The top is completely covered with forest. The old name of the mountain is Gvozd, which also means forest. King Petar Svačić died fighting the Turks on the mountain and the mountain was named after him. At the top of the mountain is a huge monument to the revolution of the people of Kordun and Banja, which is now sadly abandoned and in ruins. The monument is located on the Veliki Petrovac peak, and many believe that this is also the highest peak of Mount Petrova. In reality, it is the slightly higher peak Mali Petrovac, located a little further north. Both peaks are in the forest and do not offer a view.
Somewhere in the heart of Petrova Gora is the Muljava hunting lodge, which is an ideal starting point for the ascent. The lodge is permanently open and manned, and it is also possible to spend the night.
The summit is a popular destination for climbers from Vojnić and Vrginmosta, as well as from Karlovac and Glina.
