Description of peak:
At 3264 metres, Monte Antelao, known as King Dolomites, is the highest peak in the eastern Dolomites. Two glaciers, the Inferiore and the Superiore, are also located below the northern slopes of the summit. The latter is the second largest glacier in the Dolomites. In November 2014, the mountain was subject to a massive landslide, which also blew away the Piero Cosi bivouac, located at 3111 metres below the summit. The summit on which the cross stands offers a magnificent view over most of the Dolomites. The first ascent of the summit was made in 1850 by Matteo Ossi.
