Description of mountain hut:
Stausee Moserboden is a reservoir located at an altitude of 2036 metres in the Glockner mountain group in the High Tauern. The dam on the lake consists of two parts with the Höhenburg peak between them. The first part, called the Mosersperre, is 107 metres high and 494 metres long, while the second part, called the Drossensperre, is 112 metres high and 357 metres long. Together, they contain a good one million cubic metres of concrete. The lake has a capacity of 84.9 million cubic metres. Most of the lake's water comes from the Pasterze glacier, which is located below the Großglockner (Grossglockner). Water from the Stausee Margaritze, which is located next to the glacier, flows through an 11.5 km long tunnel linking the two lakes. The dam was built from 1947 to 1955. The dam can also be reached by a combination of bus transport and an inclined lift.
