Description of mountain:
Orleška draga (also Orleška dolina) is a karst valley (or sinkhole) approximately 60 m deep, located to the west of the village of Orlek near Sežana. The sinkhole is roughly circular in shape, with a top diameter of approximately 200 m and a flat bottom with a diameter of approximately 60 m. The bottom is 265 m above sea level.
The sinkhole is surrounded by picturesque vertical cliffs, especially to the west and south, while the eastern slope is slightly less steep and covered with trees. The very bottom is covered with grass.
The national border with Itali runs through the sinkhole. Most of the sinkhole lies on Slovenian territory, only the western slope lies on Italian territory.
The sinkhole is easily accessible by a track which leads gently all the way to the bottom. It can be reached by a short walk along unmarked paths from Orlek, and a little closer still is Fernetici on the Italian side of the border. In November 2022, no information board about this natural landmark could be seen anywhere in Orlek, in the sinkhole or in its vicinity.
Note: I am not aware of any official data on the dimensions, the diameters were estimated with a distance meter in Gogle Maps and the altitude with a GPS tracker.
