Description of peak:
Patscherkofel is a vast and scenic mountain rising above Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian state of Tyrol. The mountain is one of the most popular destinations in the wider area, as it can be climbed in all seasons, with a cable car to a height of almost 2000 m and a popular ski resort on its slopes in winter, which also hosted the Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976. The mountain's round shape and moderate slopes make it accessible from many directions, and it is also renowned as an outstanding viewpoint, especially towards Innsbruck and the Inn valley, the Nordkette ridge and the Stubai Alps.
