Description of peak:
The highest peak Portugal and the third highest peak in the Atlantic Ocean, located on the island Pico in the Azores archipelago. Pico is an active stratovolcano, which last erupted in 1720. There is only one road to the summit. Due to the rapidly changing weather, the climb up the volcano can be dangerous, but safety is ensured by GPS devices, which can be obtained at the starting point.
