Sveti Jošt on Paški Kozjak

Description of church:
The Church of St.Jošta, the highest parish church in the Šaleška Valley, is located just below Špik, which is the highest peak Paški Kozjak (1108 mnv) to the west.
The neo-Gothic parish church of St. Jošt dates from 1884, but otherwise the church has been connected with the place since 1482. The original building on the site was Gothic, but it was demolished in 1879 and a neo-Gothic church was built between 1881 and 1883. The two rectangular Baroque chapels give the church the shape of a Latin cross on its flor plan.
In the central niche of the high altar stands a statue of St. Joses, patron saint of pilgrims, the blind, nursing homes, shipowners and bakers, and intercessor for a good harvest and belaying of grain against fire and livestock, against fire and storm, against fever and pestilence.
Next to the church there is also a baroque parsonage, a former forestry building, which is a typical Cossack dwelling house.
From the church, a path leads to Špik, where you can enjoy the magnificent views on all sides.
