Vranilac (Kalnik)

Description of peak:
Kalnik is a hill located between Križevci, Novi Marof, Varaždin and Koprivnica. It is not among the highest mountains, but its many hiking trails and varied landscape are what set it apart from the surrounding hills. The mountain is more gentle from the north, but descends steeply towards the valley from the south. Kalnik is said to be the last or first mountain in the Karavanke. The forest almost completely covers the mountain, with only a few rocky cliffs in the south. Despite its relatively low altitude, the view from the top of Kalnik is beautiful, and in good weather it can reach far and wide. 15 minutes below the summit there is a mountain hut, and nearby there is the Old Castle of Veliki Kalnik. Kalnik is also known for its climbing routes.
