Access to the starting point:
a) First, drive to Dobrova near Ljubljana, then continue in the direction of Polhov Gradec. When you arrive in Dvor, you are at the beginning of the route described above, which starts near the church.
b) From the Ljubljana bypass or the Gorenjska motorway, take the Ljubljana (Podutik) exit and then continue towards the Ljubljana area and then on to Dobrova. After Preval, where the road to Toško Čelo turns off to the right, the road starts to descend and we follow it to reach the main road Dobrova - Polhov Gradec. Follow the road to the right in the direction of Polh Gradec, and we follow the main road to the settlement Dvor, where the route described above begins.
c) Take the Polhov Gradec road and then continue towards Ljubljana. When we arrive in Dvor we are at the beginning of the described route, which starts near the church.
d) From the motorway Koper - Ljubljana, take the exit Vrhnika, then continue driving towards Horjul. From Horjul continue towards Ljubljana, but only as far as the settlement Zaklanec, as there you will see signs for Polhov Gradec, which will direct you to the left. After a few kilometres, when you reach the Dobrova - Polhov Gradec road, follow it to the right and follow it to the Dvor settlement, where the footpath described above begins.
Path description:
In the middle of Dvor, near the two churches, there are two marked trailheads leading to Grmada. One signpost is right next to the church and the other is a little further away, by the water trough.
Choose the path that starts at the water trough, and you will see the route sign on a nearby tree by the local road. Follow the narrow asphalt road up to the left turn, and then turn right onto the unmarked but well-trodden path (if you continue along the road, after a few minutes you will join the path that starts right next to the church in Dvor). The path continues through the woods and soon turns left, then climbs to cart track, a few minutes away, where you reach the marked cart track (once you get on cart track, you reach the marked path that starts at the church). Follow Cart track to the right for a short distance, and then the markings lead you to the left on a relatively steep path. The path continues along a mostly pine-covered ridge, and although the path passes through forest, we are treated to some beautiful views. Once we get a view towards the Krim, another time towards Koreno, another time to the nearby hills. . .
Higher up, from a sort of promontory, which can also be bypassed on the right side along a well-worn path, there is a short descent, and then we start climbing again. The way forward takes us past the mouth of a wide and crumbly ravine, where a short path branches off to the right to a kind of lookout point, and we continue straight ahead, along a path that turns into a small valley. Climb gently up the valley for a few minutes, then after a small pass, emerge from the forest into a larger clearing or meadow, where you leave the marked path towards Grmada (from here, you will continue on the unmarked path to the summit).
The marked trail to Grmada continues straight ahead and leads past a nearby hunting observation post, while we continue left, across the meadow, on a trail that is at first completely invisible. After a few metres, we catch a trail of some kind (the trail leading from Polhov Gradec, past Planinski dom na Ravneku), and we follow it left into the forest. Before entering the forest, it is worth stopping to look around a bit, as the view extends from Blegoš to Julian Alps and, of course, to the nearby Grmada. Once you enter the forest (here on the left side you can see another cart track - in the description the unmarked path from Dvor), the path climbs moderately through a partly pine forest, then the forest thins out and you reach the top of Kuclja, from where you can see a beautiful view of part of the Kamniško Savinjske Alps.
If you want some more views to the south and west, from the top continue along the path which starts to descend gently to the south, and in a minute or two you will reach a nice viewpoint, where there is also a small bench.
Description and pictures refer to the situation in 2015 (March).

Discussion about the trail Dvor - Kucelj above Polhov Gradec (on marked path)

Res lepa pot, vsaj kar meni osebno ponuja. Razgiban teren, veliko strmih, razglednih odsekov, skalnatih vzpetin, sončnih travnikov, dišečih borovcev in barvnega resja.

V glavnem, super in fajn vse skupaj. Alpe v malem z obilo pomladnega cvetja...
