End of road below Jelovec - Castle Stari grad (Čušperk Castle)

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Novo mesto motorway, take the exit Grosuplje and follow the road to the above-mentioned place. From Grosuplje, continue towards Turjak, but only until the road to Spodnja Slivnica turns left. Above Spodnja Slivnica the road becomes macadam, and we follow it at the crossroads above the village in the direction of the hunting lodge (on the left, the hamlet of Zavrh). Just a little further on, we come to the next crossroads, where we again continue to the right (on the left, the village of Predole). Continue for about 2km and the road will lead you to the next crossroads, where you continue to the left (hunting lodge on the right). Follow this road to its end, where you park.

Path description:
From the starting point, follow cart track from the end of the road. After a few minutes' walk, the winding and often quite muddy cart track leads to the first unmarked crossroads, where you continue slightly left, following the much wider cart track. The above-mentioned cart track, which runs without major ascents and descents, leads us after about 10 minutes' walk to a marked path leading from the village of Predole.
Follow the marked path to the right and continue walking along cart track, which has a few minor switchbacks, but as the path is further marked there are no major problems with orientation. Cart track then starts to climb steeply, and we follow it to a place where the markings direct us right onto a steep footpath which takes us up to the top of Limberk in just over 5 minutes of further walking.
From Limberk, continue along the marked trail in the direction of the Old Castle. The path immediately begins to descend steeply down a rather overgrown slope. Occasionally poorly visible, but relatively well marked, the lower path leads to cart track which is followed slightly upwards to the left. The cart track mentioned above is quickly abandoned as the markings direct us right into the dense forest where the path continues. Further on, the path, which still occasionally follows the cart track, crosses a number of forks. As the signposting ahead is not very frequent, we will have some orientation problems, especially in snow and fog. The path, which climbs steeply, especially in the last part, leads us after about 1 hour's walk from Limberk to the ruins of the Old Castle.
