Access to the starting point:
Ruš can be reached from Maribor as well as from Koroška along the Drava Valley. You can leave your car in the village or drive a good kilometre further along a well-maintained asphalt road, which you would otherwise have to walk.
Path description:
If you leave the car in the village, continue along the road for about half an hour, ignoring the many shortcuts and just going straight until you reach the end of the asphalt on a small pass, which the locals call Dobnik's Cross. The cross with Jesus on it stands by the roadside. There is also a wooden-roofed signpost to Pečke and many other destinations. Cross the pass and continue walking on the dirt road, which can be muddy after rains. At the bottom of the road there is a large meadow, over which you walk until you reach a wood and continue to a small parking lot and two houses, one of which is built of wood and the other of which is built of brick and painted yellow. There is a marker on a stone next to the house, and a signpost nearby, pointing the way. There we make a sharp turn and start walking along cart track, which rises above the macadam we walked on earlier. Do not follow this one any more, as it leads down into the valley past a vicious dog. Anyway, follow cart track to another signpost, which clearly indicates the route of the route to Pečky and also back to Ruše. So turn left and follow the wide forest path, which turns once and after about 100 metres you reach the trail junction for Pečke. The sign is small, so you have to be careful not to miss the turn-off. Cart track, which serves as a forest logging trail, continues for a long distance and it is really not advisable to miss the turn-off. It can be recognised by its steep descent into the valley. Care must be taken on this part of the route as it is quite slippery. Small crampons are necessary in winter, but walking sticks will come in handy all year round. Fortunately, the steepness of the slope quickly subsides and a narrow forest path leads along the side of the hill. In the valley you can already hear the babbling of the brook, and in winters like this one (2012/13) you can already hear it up at the turnoff. It is big because of the snow melting higher up in the hills. The stream rises below Glažuta. On the way we cross some fallen trees, which until recently had to be climbed over, but are now sawed in half. Soon you will reach a stream where you can freshen up (the water is drinkable) and then cross it on a footbridge. We climb up to another macadam road, which we cross and, following the signpost, continue on the clearly visible wide path towards Pečky. The path is steep, walking sticks are recommended, as are crampons in winter. After about 10-15 minutes, you will reach a macadam road, next to which is a small monument to Rudy, who died here 10 years ago, frozen in deep snow. The path climbs steeply again, but soon it lays down again and we reach the road. You can follow it, or you can continue through the forest. Either way, you will reach the Doma na Pečkah (Home on Pečkah), and the hunters' shooting range is close by, so don't be afraid of gunshots. We are at our destination!Hint: You can also continue to Glažuta and Areho, or to Meranove, where they have good wine.

Discussion about the trail Ruše - Pečke

Odličen opis lepe in zanimive poti.

Kaj so levo in desno prepadi?
Kolar19. 07. 2014
