Selca - Sleme (Površnica)

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive to Škofja Loka, then continue driving towards Železniki. When you reach Selca, park in the parking lot under the parish church.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the pavement and walk along the road towards Železniki. Opposite the Mercator Selca shop, cross the main road at the pedestrian crossing and then turn right behind the shop onto the road towards Lajš. When the road towards Lajš turns right a little further on, turn left onto a side road, which leads you past a few more houses and gradually starts to climb. Behind the last house, an unmarked path branches off to the right, initially leading us along the edge of the forest, then turning right into the forest through which it climbs along and along cart track. Cross the tarmac road higher up and continue to climb along the best-beaten track. After a few minutes, cross the tarmac road once more and the path gradually becomes a wooded ridge, which you climb until you reach a hayfield with a beautiful view that reaches all the way to the Alps. On the hayloft, continue to the left, passing the trestle on the right, and a little further on you will come to cart track, which climbs crosswise. A little further on, the next hayfield is reached, which is crossed at the leftmost edge, and the track then continues through the forest to the pass to the north-west of Lepego Brdo.

Here, at a small sign, a short path branches off sharply to the right, leading to Lepo brdo, and we continue slightly to the left, walking along cart track.

At the saddle, a nice view opens up and the path then passes into the forest, where from the crossroads we continue right (straight Kališe), a few steps further on at the fork we choose the upper left road, from which we go right on the beaten track, which begins to climb steeply through the forest. After a few minutes of steep climbing, we emerge from the woods, where the path levels out, and it is only a good minute's walk to the Church of the Holy Cross, which we can already see ahead of us.
From the church, continue along the ridge overlooked by the view, then into the forest, where you continue along a well-worn path that quickly leads to an asphalt road. Continue along the tarmac road for a short distance, and when the road turns left, continue straight on to a footpath that continues through the forest. Continue along the slopes of Rožnik, where the path leads you across a hayfield, and when you return to the forest, the path turns into a ridge. A little further on, leave the forest and walk across the meadow to the highest point of the ridge or Površnice.
