Valburga - Smledniški hrib (Stari grad) (by road)

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Vodice exit and then continue to Valburga, Smlednik, Zbilje and Medvode. When you arrive in Valburga, you will see a sign for Stari grad (Old Castle), which directs you to the left onto the local road. Continue through the village, and at a small crossroads in the upper part of the village, turn left again towards the Old Castle and the marked parking lot. Follow the asphalt road for another 100 m, then park in the marked parking area by the road.

Path description:
From the parking lot continue along the road along which we parked, which is soon joined by a path from a lower starting point (the path over Kalvarija). Here the road turns slightly to the right and leads us to the games on the saddle above Kalvarijo. Here, a steep footpath branches off slightly to the left, leading to the Old Castle, and we continue along the road, which turns increasingly to the right. Higher up, we reach a marked crossroads, where we continue sharp left and pass the NOB monument, and within a few minutes we reach the refreshment room on Smlednik hill.
From the refreshment room, continue along the well-maintained path, which will take you in a few steps up to the restored Old Castle.
