Description of lake:
Lake Cootapatamba lies at 2,047 meters above sea level near the highest peak of mainland Australia (Mount Kosciuszko). Its name is of Aboriginal origin and literally translates to "The place where the eagle drank." This lake and a smaller neighboring one nearby are the only glacial lakes in mainland Australia. Camping near the lake is not permitted.
