Velenje Castle

Description of mountain:
Velenje Castle (Grad Velenje or Velenjski grad) stands on a hill above the old part of Velenje in the Šaleška Valley and is among the most beautiful and best-preserved castles in Slovenia.
From the castle there is a fine view of Velenje and surrounding hills. To the northwest Uršlja gora and Peca are clearly visible, to the north Paški Kozjak, to the northeast Radojč and Vinska gora.
Today the castle houses the spaces of the Velenje Museum.
Velenje Castle, besides the museum, offers space for various social and cultural events.
The castle premises include a wedding hall, and the courtyard hosts various cultural and musical events.
At the castle there is a sign with a stamp for the Pozojeva grajska pot trail, which leads to three other castles around Velenje.
